Valtteri Bottas is the prototype of the quick driver who never had the right conditions to win a world title. The Finn from Nastola arrived at Mercedes in 2017 after Rosberg's retirement and spent five seasons as Hamilton's teammate. At various points he was very fast — winning 10 races and taking 20 poles — but team orders in favour of Hamilton prevented him from genuinely fighting for the championship. His "To whom it may concern" social media note in 2019 is one of the most remembered moments of the hybrid era.
