Logitech RS50 McLaren vs Fanatec CSL DD: 8 Nm on PC

The same force, 8 Nm, and two different approaches. The RS50 McLaren comes ready to race single seaters: a formula rim based on the MCL38's, TrueForce HD and a load cell brake in the box. The CSL DD has a far lower official price and a round rim, and the load cell brake is added later. If you want F1 from day one and have somewhere to bolt it, the RS50; in every other case, the CSL DD.

In bold, what differs between the two. Figures from each manufacturer's official sheet; "not published" means the brand does not give it. We do not show prices because they change every week.

First: where you will put it

This is the difference you see least in a photo. The RS50 base weighs 4.4 kg and fastens with M6 bolts, with no desk clamp on the sheet. The CSL DD bundle includes its clamp. If you play at a desk and have no stand or cockpit, the Fanatec works straight out of the box and the Logitech makes you buy something else before you race.

The brake and the rim

A load cell brake measures the pressure of your foot rather than its travel, and it is the upgrade you feel most under braking. The RS50 includes it. Fanatec's CSL Pedals are steel with Hall sensors and can take one later. On the rim, the RS50 is a formula rim and the one in the Fanatec bundle is round, 30 cm. Each has its own quick release, so one brand's rims will not fit the other.

TrueForce and what is not on the sheet

The RS50 adds TrueForce HD, Logitech's fine vibrations from game data, and an OLED display. The CSL DD gives a three-digit LED display and RPM lights. The McLaren version of the RS50 is PC only, and so is this CSL DD bundle. One buying detail: the RS50 is sold on Amazon and the CSL DD at Fanatec's store, where it is worth checking the delivery time during peak season.
