About F1 Legend Sim

F1 Legend Sim is a free Formula 1 simulator, made by fans for fans. It started from a simple idea: instead of arguing forever about what would have happened if a legendary driver had had another car or raced in another era, let a simulation engine play that scenario out and return a concrete answer. You pick the drivers, the car and the season, and the simulator races it for you, from a single Grand Prix to a whole championship.

Where the data comes from

The database covers the full Formula 1 grids from 1988 to 2026, 39 seasons with the real race drivers of each year, plus legends from earlier eras. Every driver has attributes (overtaking, cornering, braking, reactions, one-lap pace, aggression and consistency) on a 50 to 99 scale, calibrated against their real results. Every team carries a car performance and a reliability value that reflect the real competitive order of that season. Historical results come from public F1 statistics sources.

How the engine works

The engine does not flip a coin. Each Grand Prix models qualifying by sessions, a full grid of real rivals, changing weather, tyre wear across a stint, pit stop strategy, mechanical reliability (with retirements) and safety car periods that bunch the field back up. On top of that it adds a controlled amount of randomness, the luck every real race has, so two simulations of the same scenario do not come out identical. You can run one race, a whole season, or a Monte Carlo batch of hundreds of simulations to see how often your line-up wins.

What you can do

There are eleven modes, split into two ways of playing. The ones you play in one sitting: the Roulette, which draws your drivers and car; What if?, where you build any scenario you like; the Garage, to put together a team mixing eras; Streak, duels against ever stronger rivals; and Multiplayer. Three of them change every day and are the same for everyone: the Daily Challenge, Predict the GP and the Daily Manager.

And the ones you come back to: Manager Mode, where you run a team season after season and set the strategy for every Grand Prix; The Racing Line, a driver's career from karting to F1; and The Pit Wall, running a team that starts out in F4. For the details, the How it works page goes through them step by step.
