Gianni Morbidelli raced once for Ferrari, in what should have been Alain Prost's last race with the team, except that Prost was not there. An Italian born in 1968 into a family of motorcycle makers, he was Ferrari test driver when in 1991 the team fired Prost before the Australian Grand Prix and put him in the car. The race was stopped for rain after fourteen laps, Morbidelli was sixth and took half a point.

The rest of those years he raced with Minardi, without points. His best spell came with Footwork: in 1994 he was fifth in Germany and in 1995, in Adelaide, the last race of the year, he finished third from thirteenth on the grid, his only podium.

He came back in 1997 to stand in at Sauber for half a season, and that was the end of his Formula 1: 67 Grands Prix and 8.5 points. Afterwards he had a long career in touring cars.

The first number is always Morbidelli's. A team-mate is whoever started the same race for the same team. "In the race" only counts races both finished, because a retirement says nothing about who was quicker. "On the grid" is the starting position, with penalties already applied.
