Alessandro Zanardi had two Formula 1 careers and neither went well. An Italian born in 1966, he made his debut with Jordan at the end of 1991 and raced once for Minardi in 1992, standing in for injured drivers. In 1993 he finally had a seat, at Lotus alongside Johnny Herbert, and scored his only point in Brazil, sixth.
That same year, in practice at Spa, he crashed at Eau Rouge and missed the rest of the season. In 1994 he was back at Lotus part-time, in a team that was going under, with no points.
He went to America and became a different driver there: CART champion in 1997 and 1998 with Ganassi. Williams brought him back in 1999 alongside Ralf Schumacher, and it was a pointless year, with seventh as his best result. He stopped at 41 Grands Prix and 1 point. Later, after losing both legs in a crash in Germany in 2001, he won four Paralympic gold medals in handcycling.

The first number is always Zanardi's. A team-mate is whoever started the same race for the same team. "In the race" only counts races both finished, because a retirement says nothing about who was quicker. "On the grid" is the starting position, with penalties already applied.
