Oscar Piastri
Australiano · 2023–presente
Oscar Piastri reached Formula 1 with a record very few had put together: Formula 3 champion in 2020 and Formula 2 champion in 2021, both times in his first year in the category. The Australian, born in Melbourne in 2001, spent 2022 as Alpine's reserve, and that summer he was at the centre of the most tangled signing of the era: Alpine announced him as a race driver and he replied publicly that he would not drive for them. A contract recognition board ruled in McLaren's favour, and that is where he made his debut in 2023.
His first race in Bahrain ended in retirement, but the first podium came that same year in Japan, in third, and in Qatar he won the sprint. In 2024 he took his first Grand Prix win in Hungary and the second in Baku, holding off Charles Leclerc for half the race, and finished fourth in the championship.
2025 was the season he started being measured against the very best: seven wins, four of them from pole, 410 points and third in the championship, in a year when his closest rival sat in his own garage, Lando Norris.
Nine wins and six poles in his first three full seasons. He is one of the few drivers on the current grid who arrived winning in every category he raced.
