Ricardo Zonta arrived in Formula 1 with two titles to his name: Formula 3000 champion in 1997 and FIA GT champion with Mercedes in 1998. A Brazilian born in 1976, he made his debut in 1999 with BAR, Jacques Villeneuve's new team, and in his second race, at home, he injured a foot in a practice crash and missed three Grands Prix.
His best year was 2000, still at BAR and with Villeneuve beside him: three sixth places, in Australia, Italy and the United States, and the 3 points of his whole career. For 2001 BAR did without him.
From then on he was a luxury stand-in. He raced twice for Jordan in 2001 in place of Heinz-Harald Frentzen and spent years as a Toyota test driver, which put him in the race seat for the last races of 2004 and one in 2005. That made 36 Grands Prix and 3 points.

The first number is always Zonta's. A team-mate is whoever started the same race for the same team. "In the race" only counts races both finished, because a retirement says nothing about who was quicker. "On the grid" is the starting position, with penalties already applied.
