Luca Badoer started 50 Grands Prix in Formula 1 and never scored a point. An Italian born in 1971 and 1992 Formula 3000 champion, he spent his seasons with the smallest teams on the grid: Lola in 1993, Minardi in 1995, Forti in 1996, Minardi again in 1999.

His closest afternoon was the Nürburgring in 1999. With rain and retirements everywhere, he was running fourth in the Minardi thirteen laps from the end when the gearbox broke. The pictures of Badoer in tears beside the car are what most people remember of him.

All the while he was Ferrari test driver for more than ten years, the man who covered thousands of kilometres at Fiorano. In 2009, aged 38, Ferrari put him in the race car to replace Felipe Massa, injured in Hungary. He finished at the back in Valencia and at Spa, and the team called up Giancarlo Fisichella. Those were his last two races.

The first number is always Badoer's. A team-mate is whoever started the same race for the same team. "In the race" only counts races both finished, because a retirement says nothing about who was quicker. "On the grid" is the starting position, with penalties already applied.
