Alex Caffi spent six years in Formula 1 with small teams, and his best circuit was the hardest on the calendar. An Italian born in 1964, he made his debut with Osella in 1986, in one of the slowest cars on the grid, and in two seasons barely saw the finish.

With Dallara, the Scuderia Italia, the results came. In 1989 he was fourth at Monaco and sixth in Canada, 4 points. The following year, now at Arrows, he scored at Monaco again: he started twenty-second and finished fifth.

In 1991 the Footwork, with an engine that did not work, kept him out of almost every race: he only managed to start twice. He never raced in Formula 1 again. He stopped at 56 Grands Prix and 6 points, five of them in the streets of Monte Carlo.

The first number is always Caffi's. A team-mate is whoever started the same race for the same team. "In the race" only counts races both finished, because a retirement says nothing about who was quicker. "On the grid" is the starting position, with penalties already applied.
