Jos Verstappen raced for seven teams in Formula 1, and in the first his team-mate was Michael Schumacher. A Dutchman born in 1972, he made his debut in 1994 with Benetton without ever having raced in Formula 3000, and that same year he left two images behind: his car on fire in the Hockenheim pit lane during a refuelling stop, and two third places in a row in Hungary and Belgium.
It was his best season, tenth in the championship with 10 points, and he never came close again. From then on his career was a string of small teams: Simtek, Footwork, Tyrrell, Stewart, Arrows and Minardi. In four of his eight seasons he finished without a single point.
What he did leave was a reputation for being quick in cars that were not, and the odd flash: with Arrows he scored five points in 2000, in a car that could barely score. His last season was 2003, with Minardi.
Two podiums in ten years. His surname came back to Formula 1 in 2015, with his son Max.
What if Verstappen had another car?
We took his real attributes and put him in the best car of each era: in a real driver's seat, against the team-mate that car actually had. 30 full seasons in each.

The first number is always Verstappen's. A team-mate is whoever started the same race for the same team. "In the race" only counts races both finished, because a retirement says nothing about who was quicker. "On the grid" is the starting position, with penalties already applied.
