Franco Colapinto

Argentino · 2024–presente

No world title

Franco Colapinto brought Argentina back to Formula 1 after more than twenty years. Born in Pilar, in Buenos Aires province, in 2003, he was racing in Formula 2 when Williams called him up midway through 2024 to replace Logan Sargeant. He made his debut at Monza, in twelfth, and in his second race, in Baku, he finished eighth: the first Argentine to score points in Formula 1 since Carlos Reutemann in 1982.

Those nine races set off a wave of Argentine fans at every circuit, but Williams already had its line-up settled for 2025. Colapinto signed as Alpine's reserve and at Imola, the seventh race, he took Jack Doohan's seat.

That year at Alpine, in the slowest car on the grid, ended without a single point. In 2026, with the new regulations and a Mercedes engine in the back of the car, the story changed: he scored regularly and his best result came in Canada, sixth from tenth on the grid.

He has not reached the podium, but few drivers on the grid bring as many people to the grandstands as he does.

What if Colapinto had another car?

We took his real attributes and put him in the best car of each era: in a real driver's seat, against the team-mate that car actually had. 30 full seasons in each.
